LoginView Control as AJAX CollapsiblePanel extender Control is not Recognised?

When using a control like a hyperlink to expand and collapse the ajax collapsible panel extender all is fine, that is until you put the hyperlink control inside a loginView. How do i reference the control inside the loginView as a CollapseControlID or ExpandControlID?

The aim is to have a button that is shown when the user is logged in (inside the LoggedInTemplate of the LoginView) that can then be used to expand or collapse the collapsible panel extender.
