Is FreeBSD Unix or Linux?

I can't work out if FreeBSD should be classed as Linux, Unix, or something else. Can anyone help me?

Hi, Linux is just a kernel whereas freeBSD is an operating system. Linux is a Unix like operating system whereas freeBSD is a direct descendant of BSD Unix so freeBSD should be classed as Unix.
