Default Anyone else think CGI in real films looks awful?

You can blatantly tell it's a cartoon!!!!

What ever happened to the likes or Spielberg who could make something look real !!!

Sometimes, but I think a lot goes unotitced. Still the old animation on clash of the titans & jason & the argonaughts still works even though its obvious.

A lot of the CGI used is increadibly good. all films are full of CGI a lot of which you would never actually know was computer generated. The trick is that they use a mixture of real sets and computer generated effects to make it look real

but old fashioned special effects were crap too. Dambusters scene when they blow the dams, Ray Harryhausen stop motion monsters, Sabu flying on the Genie etc etc. But if the film is good it will carry these blips, and technology is ever improving - look at what Peter Jackson and Weta achieved.

I've seen some films where you really couldn't tell (True Lies was absolutely AMAZING with the CGI involved).

And some where it's outstandingly terrible (Star Wars Episode II, so there goes you Spielberg reference!!)
