Default How popular is cricket in England now?

Now that Kevin Pietersen is playing for England and going great guns and with the advent of T20 format, is cricket all set to rival the popularity of other more popular sports in England. Also England now probably sports a best side since Ashes-2005 are there any takers

I feel really pity that despite producing some gem of players - Flintoff, Vaughan, Hoggard to name a few - and originating in England cricket does not seem to grow in popularity in the same country whereas the world over it is just about increasing in popularity every year.

And finally can Kevin pietersen rival the popularity of someone like 'beckham' even though the latter doesn't bend it so much these days

i think the popularity is getting better due to the fact that their are so many teams but i really do not think it will be as succsessful as football and Rugby which are the most enjoyed sports in England !!

It was getting really popular a couple of years ago when we won the Ashes......... Then Sky Sports bought it so, now, most of us CANT see it unless we wanna tickle Rupert Murdochs Ball-bag for it.

Highlights on channel 5, but......... so what !
