it TOTALLY dpends on HOW you do it. read this:
Why do people insist on wrapping their torsos with a fat, ugly belt when it isn't needed? This is a very serious question and I have been thinking about this for WEEKS. (For full disclosure: I am in, umm, close proximity to a girl who LOVES the randomly belted outfit. Quite frankly, given her choice in men, I don't blame her. She might be completely unaware about the Rules of Belt Wearing.)
For one, if you are wearing a dress that has a sweetheart neck and empire cut, is it REALLY appropriate sticking one somewhere near your waist? Doesn't that just kill the point of an empire-like flare that starts below the bust?
Or, if you have a pencil skirt with a button down, why would you just stick one below your bust line, so that there is now an awkward gap between the bottom of your belt and the top of your pencil skirt?
The male equivalent would probably be wearing a tie and ascot with a pocket tee. Perhaps he can match her.
