How do you officially get a handicap in golf in the UK?

How is this done?
Also how do Dogs get a handicap if they arent allowed on Golf courses? This is racist. I want to get my paws on one

You can join a golf club, you don't have to be the member of the golf course (you can still be pay and play)

I pay £15 a year to join my golf club which has nothing to do with the green fees, this allows me to carry an official handicap and play in competitions.

When paying £15 you also need to enter at least 3 general play scorecards Just go out and play 3 rounds of golf when you can and have them signed by the player you went out with.

Some courses might want you to play more rounds etc, its up to the golf course commitee.

Join a golf club or join one of the 'virtual clubs' online. With the virtual clubs you'll need to mail/email your score cards, so they'll need to be signed by both player and marker to be valid.

You have to become a member of the course. You will need someone who is already a member to recommend you.

You then have to play 3 full rounds, with another member, who will mark your card and submit them for approval.
