Default Problem enabling Javascript?

I am using Internet Explorer (via BT Yahoo) and I keep receiving a message that Javascript is not enabled and given instructions to follow in order to enable Javascript.

The instructions tell me to go to Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level - then scroll down the page until I get to ' Active Scripting' and enable that.

I am then told to click enable for 'Allow Paste Operations via script' My problem is that 'Allow Paste Operations via script' is not listed anywhere that I can see. I have an option that says 'Allow status bar updates via script' and I was wondering if that is the same thing?

What do I do to fix this?

I gather that Javascript and Java are not the same things (to be honest, I haven't a clue what either of them is!!!).

Any advice, from someone who knows their Javascript from their Java, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

You may try lower your security setting to "Medium"... at the bottom of the form where you tried to twist your custom setting.

"Allow paste operations via script" should be down near the bottom of the same place where you found "Active Scripting". If is not, the version of IE you have may have that disabled.

If you absolutely need that capability, you can download a vanilla version of IE from Microsoft (probably IE7, I assume), and then uninstall the BT Yahoo IE and install your own version.

Yes, JavaScript and Java are two different things.

For someone who claims they don't have a clue about Java or Javascript, you know something important that I'd wager 50% of people don't know. That there is a difference!

Aside from that there are a two different roads we might have to venture down: IE6 or IE7? I have provided the instructions for both below:

IE6:

IE7:

Good Luck!
