Default Where is the javascript code executed?

I was asked this question during an interview........there's no this and that attached to it, these were the exact words of the question, I dunno what to answer to this one. Probably in a function or /HTML/FRAMES/FRAMES folder or something. I dunno I I am right or wrong.

I hope you are not still in the interview waiting for an answer!
Anyway, the long and the short of it is that it runs on the client computer. Like another contributor said it is used to validate the user/clients input without having to do a round trip of posting to the server, validating, and returning the results.

However, you can do a lot with Java that you can't with server side PHP, ASP etc. For instance, you can open windows client side with java, and place the windows in specific locations on the screen. if you want to ensure that a users session does not expire you can have client side java timers that tell the user when the session is about to expire.

Hope you got the job dude!

The simplest answer could be: A JavaScript code is executed in a client's computer; more specifically, in a web browser.

More Info: JavaScript's main purpose is validation. For instance, you are trying to register in a site. You gotta provide your name and other info. Then you click the submit button. If you don't provide the mandatory info and press submit, it will tell you that you are required to provide the necessary info. How is it done? It's done using JavaScript. Why? So that the processing will be faster. If you don't use JavaScript, you have to send the form in the server and then server side codes will look for necessary info. Since you didn't provide the required info, it will respond to you (the client) saying that you can't complete the registration without the providing the mandatory info. As you can see this process takes more time. And there are other issues related to that.
