What do you mean "how much" CSS? CSS = cascading style sheet and you just code your website's apperance in a page titled .css. I guess mine was spretty long though.
I used Javascript for password authorization, and fading image effects in the past. I don't use anymore though because it's not secure and isn't comaptible with Firefox.
