UK Law Degree in America?

I plan to do a degree in Law and become a qualified Solicitor. My question is, if I was to do this, and then go over to America, would my qualification become useless in finding work as a lawyer their as the law is different, or would I still be able to carry on work as a lawyer their with my English Law degree?
