actually out taking shots? Do you do anything differently while shooting raw than you would if shooting in jpeg ?

That is the ONLY consideration. RAW gives you so much more control, There are no other draw backs.

Edit: Oh. Almost forgot. I have been caught out in situations where I needed to display taken photos and the available equipment couldn't display RAW files. RAW does need to be converted into a more exchangeable format such as TIFF or JPG.
