Default Xda or mobile phone?

I'm looking to get a new phone but I would like the benefits of email. My currrent phone, Sony Ericcson T630, states it can receive emails but I've never got it to work.

I have been looking at either a Blackberry or an Xda. I like the look if the O2 Xda Stellar as it has a fly out keyboard, but my concern is if I just want to make a call, do I have to open this out each time.

Does anyone have any experience of an Xda and if so what are their thoughts.

Also, are there 'normal' mobile phones that can receive/send emails well?

Many Thanks

Mike

i have done some checking on the stellar & noticed several complaints from users about poor battery life & the slide being loose after time. apart from that it looks a good smart phone which users say does the job well. i use the blackberry curve & love it. blackberry's main point is emails,, i recieve emails on my phone within seconds of it being sent,, i have tested this & no sooner do i click send to my email address & it has been pushed to my blackberry. very easy to set up & the other features plus dizzying array of apps available make the curve a serious business phone with lots of muscle & still it is fun to play with. there is a reason they are called crackberries,,, you cant put the thing down & my friends are always catching me getting my "crackberry fix" as they call it because i'm forever doing something with it. whichever way you go have fun.
