Get him on rats ASAP, they get harder to switch the longer they are on mice, and you would need quite a few mice to feed an adult royal.

But at that age I would say small weaner rats, or possibly a bit smaller. Is difficult to say because snakes grow at different rates, so giving us the size of the royal would be more helpful. =)

The food should leave a little bulge in him, but if it leaves a very large lump, he is regurging, or is getting a bit overweight, then it is too much.

two adult mice every week should be good (if they are the extra large adult mice). other than that a snake should get a rodent a little bit bigger than the thickest part of his body. there should be a slight bump in the snake after he eats. if you can get your royal eating the right size rats then he should be able to eat every 10 - 14 days. i still havent gotten mine to eat rats.
good luck!
