how to lower temps in royal python viv at night?

hi i am getting a royal python and will be using a ceramic heat bulb, i was just wondering how i would go about lowering the temps in the viv at night time

be carefull with ceramic heaters as snakes will sometimes wrap around them and as the caramic gets so hot there scales will stick to it.

At college our snakes have a heat mat and a basking lamp, at night the lights are turned off but the heater is left on. this way the temp will lower slightly.
