Yes this is true and it wasn't a friend of a friend, your mate is lying about that, but it was a story in the news a while ago where a girl had a pet python that slept in her room and used to sleep curled up and then she noticed that it suddenly started to sleep lying straight and didn't eat for weeks so she took it to the vet as she thought that their was something wrong with it and the vet told her that it was lying straight to match it's length against hers to make sure that it could completelty fit her inside of it and it was starving itself as she would be such a large meal.
