Help setting the size of pages on my internet explorer

Hi, I'm trying to increase the size of pages on my new laptop (Dell XPS M1730) all the pages look tiny. I've tried increasing the size of the text to largest and that works for some pages and I've tried zooming in but that hides some of the content and you have to scroll across to see it. Is there any way of setting the text/zoom size so that the pages will fit in screen but see be big enough so I don't have to squint at them??!! Thanks.
In Yahoo for instance the Answers page comes up as a column down the middle of my screen with small writing and pics pic and there's large blank areas to the left and right of the screen.
