Firefox vs Internet explorer, I don't know much about these things but if I
downloaded Firefox would I still be able to use windows live mail, messenger etc or must I be on Internet explorer for that, or can you run both, please remember I am a novice when explaining the answers to me.lol
Oh and can you still run Yahoo etc. All help gratefully received thank you
In my experience Firefox isn't worth it.
I am a novice too and found I prefer to stick with what I know.
If you are happy with what you have at the moment then don't change it.
I find it's safer to stick with the stuff I can work with!
I much prefer Firefox for speed and it's said to be safer than IE from viruses though it's much more popular now so more viruses/Trojans are being written for Firefox as well as IE but still safer last time I checked.
The good thing about firefox is that it's open source so the source code is open to all to see so any problems are likely to be spotted and fixed sooner. Also it means it can be compiled (used) on all the main operating systems such as Linux, Apple Mac as well as Windows so if you ever find yourself on a new operating system you'll be able to use a familiar browser.
There's great support for add-on's as well so if it hasn't got a feature you want then you're likely to find it as an add-on. Some of the add-ons I use are spell checker, Adblock Plus (blocks ads though I use it mainly for annoying sites with too many ads), download manager, faster fox (speeds up firefox even more) and image zoom. There's plenty of fun add-ons available as well as more useful ones.
I also use the IE Tab add-on which is incredibly useful for the few awkward sites that insist you use Internet Explorer (usually the odd shopping sites or surveys for me)....it basically lets you open up an IE tab within firefox for the awkward sites (poorly designed I should say) you need it for rather than opening up IE as a separate browser....but you still need Internet Explorer for it to work.
There's a small Firefox IE comparison at their site as well as other reasons to use it (check my source).
You can still everything on firefox you can do on ie, only firefox is faster, safer, an its really easy to download cool temes and add ons, just search firefox add-ons into google.
