Default Does anyone like 'The Phantom of the Opera'?

As in the musical and the movies. And which movie version do you prefer?

like? I love it!

I hadn't heard of it until i saw the most recent movie. I watched it and thought it was fantastic. Luckily for me the stage show was playing in Melbourne around the time i first became interested.
I saw it and it was GREAT FANTASTIC SPECTACULAR! If you thought the movie and songs are good nothing compares to the musical, being there and soaking up the atmosphere. Anthony Warlow played an excellent Phantom

I have also read the book. I found it really interesting because it is a mixture of fact and fiction. Gaston Leroux really did believe there was a phantom that haunted the Paris Opera House and he set about putting together evidence to prove as such. As the novel progresses he sometimes included footnotes to provide evidence to show that such event did occur

I recommend the book, and go see the musical if it is ever in your area

The last movie version is the best I think, starring Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum. Patrick Wilson appears as Vicomte Raoul de Chagny.
But as I am a huge musical fan...I love the musical....I have seen it in Copenhagen and it was something I will never forget!!!
Do you like it too?

I've been a fan of the musical since I was 8 years old (now 26) and have seen it 3 times in theaters. I don't particularly like any of the movies - they all change the story too much in ways I don't like. Of the movies I've seen, my favorite is the 2004 one, I suppose. The special effects were neat, but I didn't think Gerard Butler's singing voice suited the role of Phantom very well, and I HATED a couple of the minor changes they made to Erik's backstory and his relationship with Madame Giry.

I have also read the original novel, which I like a lot, and several retellings. My favorite is Phantom, by Susan Kay.
