The full question is;

Calculate the Thevenin and Norton equivalents at the points A
and B of the circuit shown in this circuit
~

I think I understand Thevenin's & Norton's Theorems, however don't get where to start on this question.

A dummies guide would be very much appreciated.

This is a practice question, I'm just learning the theory.

Thank you for your help!
I'm afraid I'm still a bit lost, could you do a step-by-step guide please?

Oh, that takes me back about 10 years...

I think you short the voltage sources, to solve for the norton equivalent.

I think you open all current sources to solve for Thevenin.

You need to calculate the Voltage Vab. Then put a short from a to b and calculate the current. Vab is the thevenin equivalent voltage, and Rth = Vab/Iab is the thevenin resistance.

In other words, the circuit could be replaced with a battery of voltage Vab in series with a resistor Rth, and you could not tell the difference, from terminals AB

Norton equivalent is similar. Instead of a voltage source and series resistor you have a current source and parallel resistor.
