ipod shuffle/itunes help needed!?

Bought an Ipod shuffle yesterday and I already had Itunes on my laptop even though I never used it. I cant seem to be able to put my songs on it properly. It says I can fit around 250 songs on it but after I put 7 songs on it says it's full. It seems like the biggest waste of money and it conveniently has a no returns policy. Can anyone offer any help before I start to throw things??!!!

apple.com can help you diagnose the problem but they havent ever really been helpful for me....:-/

my sister has a shuffle and we've had to return hers three times....once we actually had to buy a whole new one....if u got it from walmart, you should be able to return it.....and if you cant, i recommend gettin a classic or a nano
