them to do this? I've tried Darik's Boot & Nuke, but my old laptop cannot recognise CD image files and my newer (vista) laptop crashes up when I try to write image files to a CD.

I'd assume the service costs a small fee, but I'm willing to pay that, because at the moment, it takes about 20 minutes to start up (plus the battery pack always seems to need recalibrating).

best bet would be to use your OS disc to reformat (should have gotten one with the laptop. System Recovery Discs if it is older). just make sure you have a friend with the net so you can download the motherboard driver, video card driver, network adapter driver, usb driver, touch-pad driver (if you have one. you may have the little stick hidden in the keys. hate that shit, lol.) then with all that in you would be able to get the drivers for anything i forgot (i feel there is another, but regardless. as long as you have those, go to control panel, add new hardware, then let it use the net to auto install the drivers you are missing)

oh yeah, and if you lost the System Recovery Discs you can get them cheap from the computer companies. i ordered the discs for a friend who lost his before. it was like... $10

if you have had it for less han a yeay or however the warranty is you can send it to the manufactures for free if they can do the service.
