Intel core duo & Core 2 duo?

Hi Is there a fundemantal difference between core duo ande core 2 duo - there seems to be vartying answers on this and also I have seen mention of T2330 T5620 T5450 etc - i assume these relate to the processor type and speed - can any one tell me the quickest to the slowest if possible - it seems like the higher the number the faster it is ?

Intel Core Duo= Old version of Intel Pentium Dual Core based on the Yonah Core.

Core 2 Duo= Intel's newest Dual Core family.

Alltough the newer versions of Intel Pentium Dual Core based on the Merom 2M Core is better value than the Core 2 Duo.

And the Quad Core is already out, for ages ago -.-'

There is no Core Duo.
The T- numbers realte to individual processors - as you say, generally rated by core speed.
