Is the RAM used in a MAC and PC the same?

I would like to know if I can transfer some memory from an an old Apple G5 iMAC into a desktop PC. The spec of the memory is the same - 512 MB - DIMM 184-PIN - DDR - just need to know if it is actually the same component or simply the MAC equivalent if that makes sense???
