I think i need a web hosting package but im not sure?

I have approximately 100 files that i want to be able to share with certain people. As my email provider will only allow me to send 10MB per email it is not viable to send all these files by email as i would have to send 8 emails each time i was sharing the files (even sending as a zipped attachment).
So im wondering if there is a cheap way to have just one web page, where i could have these files hosted on and direct people to so that they could just download them straight from the web page over and over. Could someone suggest how i could go about this?? I dont need anything flash or pretty, just a page to download from, that i could protect by a passwoed/login type system so only the correct people would have access.
