typing web addresses,why isnt there any spaces .....?

might sound silly but a friend asked me why there arnt spaces[eg space bar] in an web address...and i couldnt answer him....so im asking you lot,...any ideas?

Because the program that interprets the URL you type stops parsing when it hits whitespace (blank)

In order to enter a web address, the URL needs to be complete and always follow the hypertext transfer protocol. A user may mistake the quantity of spaces required. This is how the people who designed web domains decided to do it.
It's also good how there's a http code, because then the internet browser can be used for viewig all filetypes.
