Does anyone know how to upload files with FileZilla with 123 reg hosting package?

hi, i recently bought a web hosting package and ive noticed that i need a FTP software i decided to use FileZilla, so i tried uploading all my files and then disconneced off the server, but nothign shows up on my url/homepage, why is this?
if anyone know anything about uploading files onto a webhosting package pelase tell me, its only my first time with websites and i dont want it to become a nightmare and a total waste of money, please help, thank you.
