Actually, that would be great if one day...once the war is long past and Iraq is a safe place to host the Olympics, it would be a fantastic achievement for that country.

Iraq is too unstable and a danger zone. I wouldn't step foot over there to watch any olympic games.

If it is safe enough someday in the future, then why should they be prohibited from hosting the Olympics?

That would be pretty awesome!!!

Now that we have freed them from Hussein's reign and they are a democracy. They are able to have hopes.
So all those people that hate Bush for giving the Iraqi's freedom, hope and dreams can shut up now!!

I say Yes. The Olympics should be held at more venues in the Middle East , in Africa, in Asia and South America.
Possible venues for the 2016 games could include countires like Bolivia, Cambodia, Yemen, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia. Bangladash. Zimbabwe. The world should 'donate' the games fully funded - providing them with employment and business opprtunities to build the infrastructure, roads, accomodation (which could be converted to housing accom after the games) and stadia some of which could be converted after the events to markets or form part of a university etc.

It's not impossible if the will is there.

ADD: I've just seen Beccas answer. I was one of those against actions of Bush&Blair. I can assure you Becca I won't be "shutting up" as you say - because the cost in lives and misery could never be justified and was launched on a false premise. Going in and killing the population and destroying their homes to impose the ideology you prefer is as brutal Saddam. If they want an Islamic state and sharia law they should be allowed to have it.
