I see so much on the sports but hardly anything on or about the country hosting it?
Maybe I have missed it but I have not seen anything on the interesting places/people in china. I thought the point was to also show/advertise China.
Of course the opening ceremony had touches of the past but I mean since then. What about the present. ?
its still a closed country and having the Olympics won't change that. The press was supposed to have free access, but that has not happened either. They don't want nosey people seeing what happened to the people dispossessed by having their homes demolished by the planners to build the buildings for the games. A British journalist was bundled very harshly into a vehicle for trying to talk to some ordinary Chinese people. This won't change for some time to come i think
Have you watched the opening ceremony? It has quite a lot of Chinese cultural information in the performances there. Paper making, the compass, chinese painting, evolution of characters, etc.
